Aries Full Moon 2026: Releasing Old Dreams & Reclaiming Your Authentic Path

Full Moon in Aries 2026

We are fresh into Libra season, and oh goodness, how is it possible for the world to have turned so pretty all of a sudden? Although we don’t really get any autumn foliage where I live, I’m still inundated with pictures of beautiful golden forests and ridiculously cozy and aesthetic interiors all over social media, magazines and TV. And I’m not complaining.

Astrologically speaking, however, we are entering a phase that’s somewhat akin to a big reckoning.

The Aries Full Moon on September 26th, 2026 jolts us awake to dreams that we might have been chasing because they were someone else’s (or our ego’s) idea of success, rather than something that’s truly ours.

This is not a gentle “set an intention and see what happens” kind of Moon. This is a “torch shone on our deepest desires” kind of Moon. It demands radical honesty: Do you actually like the person you would have to be to achieve what you’ve set out to achieve? Does that vision even resonate anymore, or was it just a way to satisfy the ego?

If you are feeling a strange sense of falling out of love with a goal you once chased, this post is for you. Here is how to work with this potent energy to release what is finished and reclaim your authentic path.

The Astrology: A Masterclass in Geometry

This year’s Aries Full Moon arrives at a time where the sky is rich in a variety of aspects, making it significant both on a wider societal level and in deeply private ways. It is a bit like a masterclass in geometry, with a Mystic Rectangle, a Grand Square (or Grand Cross), and a Grand Trine all simultaneously shaping what promises to be an active and possibly quite intense time.

The Key Players:

  • Full Moon in Aries conjunct Neptune: Illuminates dreams, illusions, and spiritual longing.

  • Trine Pluto in Aquarius: Brings high potential for transformation and releasing control.

  • Grand Air Trine (Sun in Libra, Uranus in Gemini, Pluto in Aquarius): Helps us understand things clearly and communicate our insights.

  • Grand Cross (Mars in Cancer, Venus in Scorpio, Pluto, Chiron in Aries): Ensures we feel deeply, whether those emotions are pleasant or unpleasant.

For those who are super observant, you might have noticed something else about all that has been revealed so far: no Earth. Not a single planet is in an Earth sign during this lunation. This means grounding and stability are things we need to consciously work on to balance out the intense emotional and mental energy. Spend time in nature, touch some grass, and take time to be still if you feel yourself getting out of balance.

Manifesting with the Inner Child

The astrological sign most commonly associated with the inner child is Leo, but I would argue that there is a pretty strong case to be made for Aries in this relation, too. Aries is the first sign in the zodiac wheel and as such has a strong connection to early life and childhood — particularly the desire to forge a path for ourselves and bend the world to our will, which is exactly what manifestation is in adult life, too.

There is often a sense of naivety that comes in early life, or even later on when we are at the beginning of a new endeavour. An innocence and a belief in unlimited possibilities before we have a chance to become jaded by obstacles and difficulties. Sometimes, that can be a hindrance (like when we become overly optimistic and bite off more than we can chew). But other times, we can become so preoccupied with potential pitfalls that we never even start.

If we want to create anything better than mediocrity, then a certain innocence or naivety is not only helpful, but necessary.

Returning to that state, which came so naturally in childhood, is of course easier said than done. Not everyone has been afforded the luxury to spend very much time in that state, either. Some of us have had to grow up quickly and take on responsibilities way beyond our age through sheer necessity.

Inner child healing is a huge topic which people way more qualified than me have spent their entire lives exploring, so it is not something we can fix with one blog post. Nevertheless, if it is something you are already working on, I would encourage you to dive a little deeper around the Aries Full Moon, as it is a particularly auspicious time to do so.

A Simple Practice: Letter to Your Younger Self

A great place to start is to write a letter to your younger self.

  1. Think back to your worries and preoccupations that have all turned out to be fine. Offer yourself some perspective.

  2. Think about your passions and your ideas and offer yourself some encouragement.

  3. Let it be honest, true, and emotional. Notice what comes up without judgment.

The goal is not to somehow “fix” yourself from one 20-minute exercise, but to unearth hidden beliefs that are still shaping what you believe to be possible for yourself now.

3 Journaling Prompts to Start With

With the planetary intensity of the moment, there may be a temptation to burn your whole life down because of an uncomfortable realisation that came randomly at 2am. But lasting transformation doesn’t come from disowning who you used to be. It comes from facing your path with honesty and courage.

Here are three questions to help you work out what dream is truly yours, what is just ego noise, and what action is required to make it happen:

  1. What version of my dream life have I been chasing on autopilot? When I imagine actually living it day to day, what feels exciting? And what feels strangely hollow?

  2. Which desire in my life is rooted in genuine joy, freedom or creative expression? And which one may be rooted in wanting to prove something, be admired or finally feel “enough”?

  3. Imagine it is six months from now and you have made one brave, authentic decision inspired by this Full Moon. What has changed in the way you see yourself, what do you now make space for, and what are you no longer willing to pretend you want?

Grounding Through the Shift

Whatever comes up during this Full Moon, the goal is to spur us into action – especially where we have just been going down a certain path on autopilot without giving it enough thought. Crucially, though, this is still Libra season, so it bears remembering that we will go a lot further with other people than we ever could alone.

If you feel swept up, put both feet on the floor, notice the weight of your body in the chair, and take three slow breaths. You do not have to decide anything in this exact moment.

However you choose to spend these next few weeks, may you move through them with more honesty about what you truly want – and more kindness toward the part of you that once believed it had to want something else.
