Welcome, dear readers, to Aries season—the time when, if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, the days finally grow longer, or if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere, the relentless heat finally eases. Much like the spring lamb that symbolises Aries, this season charges us with fresh energy, motivation, and vigour. We wake from winter’s hibernation ready to explore, conquer, and embrace our inner courage.
Sometimes an idea comes knocking that’s hard to shake—an idea that nags at you from every angle, urging you to take action. For me, one such idea has always been the pursuit of fearlessness. It fascinates and enthrals me, yet I’ve never fully committed to it. Why? Because fear holds me back, and the more I chase complete fearlessness, the less real it seems.
We all experience fear in different forms: the subtle buzz in our stomachs before a job interview, the bittersweet anxiety of potentially losing a loved one, or the overwhelming fear triggered by financial or political uncertainty in our world today. In times like these, the notion of becoming entirely fearless can seem both foolish and futile.
Perhaps what’s truly worthy isn’t the absence of fear, but rather the ability to feel fear and still push forward. Aries season is the perfect time for that. I’ve faced some of my biggest fears, and I can attest that the feeling on the other side is transformative—it’s one of the fastest ways to catapult yourself toward your goals.
But before you can overcome fear, you must first define it. We cannot conquer what we don’t understand. The greatest fears are often universal: fear of loss, fear of failure, fear of irreversible change, fear of losing control, and fear of being judged.
Start by identifying a dream you’ve been procrastinating on—one where fear holds you back. Reflect on what specific fear is stopping you. Is it the fear of failure, of being too vulnerable, or perhaps of judgment? At this stage, you don’t need to trace its origins—simply acknowledge its presence.
Once you’ve identified your dream and the fear behind it, repeat this affirmation:
“I face what scares me and move forward anyway.”
It’s okay if you don’t fully believe it right now. Our brains are incredibly malleable, and with enough repetition, they begin to accept the new truth.
Now, it’s time to start. Truly start. Many of us, often perfectionists or using perfectionism as an excuse, delay the very beginning. We get caught up in endless research, endless learning, or waiting for the “perfect” moment. But that perfect moment doesn’t exist. The process of learning is endless, and waiting only holds you back from the messy—but beautiful—reality of beginning.
For example, I once dreamed of starting a YouTube channel. I recorded countless videos and then held back, saying they weren’t perfect. I even blamed a change in my haircut and colour for not posting because I feared being unrecognisable. In truth, I was avoiding my fear of judgment. Eventually, I overcame it and posted a video that was imperfect, but it was a start. Once I began, I improved the sound, lighting, and transitions over time. Had I never taken that first step, I’d have missed out on the growth that came with embracing imperfection.
After that initial, terrifying leap, I felt emboldened. I confronted my fear head-on, shared my shaky video with friends, and discovered that the support I received erased my apprehensions. Those first steps, though frightening, paved the way for a smoother journey.
Sometimes, all it takes is closing your eyes, taking a deep breath, and just starting. Block off 20 minutes in your day for that one intimidating task—especially in the morning, when your willpower is strongest. Even if it’s just one small action, it sets the momentum for the rest of your day. Over time, each step becomes easier, and soon, you’ll find that the initial fear loses its grip.
This is the uncomfortable, often overlooked side of manifestation. Without action, even the most powerful dreams remain just that—dreams. Your desires require movement; they need you to step forward, however small the step. Embrace each action, whether monumental or minute, because it’s all part of a journey toward the life you want.
To ignite that inner fire even further, try this simple ritual:
1. Light a candle and visualise the space around you filling with golden light and courage.
2. Write down the fears holding you back on a piece of paper.
3. Safely burn the paper while repeating the affirmation, “I face what scares me and move forward anyway.”
4. Finish by declaring, “I am gold, I am capable, I am unstoppable.”
Over time, I’ve come to realise that I don’t actually want to be completely fearless—fear can be a powerful motivator when seen as a challenge to overcome. So, ask yourself: What’s one small step you can take today to move closer to your dreams while kicking fear to the curb?
